Noise Song For Wednesday #99 (I Heard It From A Friend, The Revolution Never Happened....Oooh, That Is So...)?
When this begins it is as though you have just intruded upon Ornette Coleman & Co. during an impromptu session...reeking improvisation. The horns squeak and the bass walks, walks, walks...walks. And it doesn't come off as being self-concious in its anti-music quality; not trying too hard to be 'odd' or 'off-the-wall'. The horns sound as though they are crossing into manhood; the glorious squeals and cracks. The drummer might as well be in his own world. And then at the 5:15 mark the synchronization and ascension upon chaos, before being reeled in yet again. And there's still thirty-two minutes left. And the last eleven minutes: wow. I hadn't any idea what I was getting into when I bought this album. All I saw was 'Free Jazz'. Oh, if I only had known of its zany quirks and unexpected twists. Ornette Coleman, I thank you. Sorry, it's the only link I could find: http://www.imeem.com/jazzmusic/music/wHnqN1Zk/ornette_coleman_free_jazz_parts_1_2/ So...? If you thought this was long, then you have no idea what will fill your ears tomorrow!

Walking into my local record store this afternoon I was delighted to hear some wonderful freeform Jazz from some forgotten era… I began to daydream as I flipped through the various CDs and closing my eyes I found myself back in time…it’s the late fifties or early sixties (contrary to rumor, no I was not alive back than) the record racks are filled with vinyl albums and playing in a smoke filled room in the back… Ornette Coleman has arrived on the scene with a complete vision and not everyone “gets” it… strange harmony, weird improvisation, melodies colliding into a dazzling array of vision and virtuosity… The song ends and I find myself back in the present day.. disappointed I pick up the CD “Beauty is a Rare Thing” and bring it to the counter where the snobby pretentious clerk gives a nod of recognition as if to say… “hmmmm, so you have a bit of musical taste” I walk out into the street, a changed man Thanks for sharing, you incurably snobby, little pretentious F@#K :)

Hey Gibb! :) Wow today's song was a bit long lol, but I stil enjoyed it. Very crazy cool and unique song you picked for today. I was tapping my toes to the beat. The song is all over the place, but in a great way. Truly a very cool song. At the last eleven minutes it gets great. I really enjoyed this one. Thank you for sharing and posting. (:
