While a specific book does not come to mind, Check out anything by Robert Frost. He is my favorite poet and reading his work routinely shows me how inept my own is.

I am a big fan of Edna St. Vincent Millay. You could try her book "Renascence & Other Poems." She graduated Vassar in 1917 and published her first two books of poetry the same year. She was later awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her work "The Ballad of the Harp Weaver." She died in 1950. Her work is very lyrical and beautiful, though sometimes sad. And there's always Emily Dickinson. She's fantastic!

There are many out there but here's a link to some of the classics http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/classicreading/1.html I think Longfellow or Whittier or even Poe would be good.

anything by robert frost, dylan thomas, sappho, thomas hardy, william blake. all of these poets have written poems where the analysis is advanced and extensive. but if you're a 13 yr. old looking for classical poetry, you're probably intelligent enough to at least start thinking about their meanings. these poets are some of my favourites. i hope this helps!
